Redpath

Our principal, Michael Redpath, has more than three
decades of experience in both government and tourism.
Most recently, Michael Redpath served as Director
of Public Affairs for the Borough of Seaside Heights
for nearly six years. While there he influenced major
changes in the image of that community and developed
new markets for its tourism activities.
Redpath’s government experience is much greater
than his service to Seaside Heights, however, having
served on numerous state and county boards and advisory
committees, and serving regulated clients as a registered
lobbyist in Trenton for nearly two decades. He also
interfaced regularly with county and municipal government
in producing large scale events, and conducted both
statewide and municipal ballot referendums.
A September 2000 Asbury Park Press article recognized
Redpath as one of the most effective community television
and film liaisons in New Jersey. He put together
and oversaw the relationship between MTV and Seaside
Heights in 1998 that proved a watermark for MTV and
the communities in which it stages its multi-month
productions, particularly the summer beach houses.
Seaside Heights has seen significant continuing
economic benefit from MTV's three month presence in
1998, without any notable disruption to the community.
Redpath served as chief operating officer for the
Trump Castle World Championships of Offshore Powerboat
Racing and Atlantic City's Beach Fest, two of the
largest public events in New Jersey, in addition to
many nearly as large events. He brought that
experience to Seaside Heights and substantially improved
its interaction with the producers of the events that
take place there.
While employed by Seaside Heights, Redpath took a
broad, holistic approach to marketing, including looking
at infrastructure issues that influence visitors.
His consumer affairs activities essentially did away
with the custom T-shirt swindles that are prevalent
in many tourism communities. He also brought about
controls to an out-of-control body piercing
industry in the town.
Redpath serves, or has served, on the Governor's Advisory
Council on Travel and Tourism, the Governor's Advisory
Council on Adolescent Suicide Prevention, the Ocean
County Mental Health Board, the Ocean County Mental
Health Emergency Task Force, the Ocean County Tourism
Advisory Council, and the New Jersey Boat Regulation
Commission.
