Michael Redpath, Chief Inspiration

completed the 3 ½ day

offered by the New Jersey Redevelopment Authority
Redevelopment Training Institute (NJRA RTI).
The Oct. 29, 30, 31 and Nov. 9, 2007
institute covered:
-
Local Redevelopment and Housing Law
-
Approaches to revitalizing distressed or underutilized
areas
-
Redevelopment process
-
Area in need of redevelopment vs. an area in need of
rehabilitation
-
Community engagement in the redevelopment process
-
Preliminary Investigation Reports
-
Redevelopment Plans and Mandatory Relocation
Requirements
-
Redeveloper Agreements
-
Current Legal and Public Policy Issues on redevelopment
According to Redpath, “While I have been
involved in revitalizing communities for many
years, with Downtown Toms
River considering a major
redevelopment project, I felt it important to be
as knowledgeable as possible about the process.
The timing was interesting in that I completed
the New Jersey Smart Choices Leadership
Institute in March and received my Masters
Degree last October. These are three learning
opportunities that position me to better serve
communities.”
The Redevelopment Planning Process was
taught by one of the leading law firms in the
area of redevelopment law -- Maraziti, Falcon
and Healey -- and one of the preeminent planning
firms in New Jersey focusing on
redevelopment work for municipal entities --
Heyer, Gruel & Associates.
